President’s Sustainability Internship Program

The first of its kind at USC, the President’s Sustainability Internship Program connects students with co-curricular learning opportunities that advance university sustainability. Beyond the deliverables that interns produce through their individual positions, the goal of this paid internship program is to build a community of students who come away better equipped to advocate for sustainability at USC and beyond.

Throughout the academic year, the full cohort of interns are brought together to build community, share knowledge across their different project teams, and gain the skills to grow as sustainability champions.

Meet the 2023-2024 Cohort

Alexa Avila	Social Media Content Manager Intern	Alexa creates content and strategizes ways to grow the social media presence of the Office of Sustainability.
Alison Chen	Sustainability Data Intern	Alison assists in mapping USC research and curriculum to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as creating dashboards to display these data in an interactive manner and contributing code and data to the Assignment: Earth dashboard.
Ankita Gupta	Scope 3 Emissions Intern	Ankita is completing an assessment of USC’s purchasing-related scope 3 emissions and developing a proposal for a related reduction goal.
Arian Tomar	Video Production Intern	Arian creates various educational and promotional videos to increase awareness and engagement.
Cheska Pangilinan	Sustainability Hub Programming and Events Intern	Cheska helps run the Sustainability Hub by greeting guests and educating them about sustainability at USC, as well as supporting events and programming happening in the Hub.
Ciara Anderson	Sustainability Hub Programming and Events Intern	Ciara helps run the Sustainability Hub by greeting guests and educating them about sustainability at USC, as well as supporting events and programming happening in the Hub.
Elisa Xia	Sustainability Hub Programming and Events Intern	Elisa helps run the Sustainability Hub by greeting guests and educating them about sustainability at USC, as well as supporting events and programming happening in the Hub.
Jerrod Rabenbauer	Investment Responsibility Intern	Jerrod supports USC’s Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility, performing research on a variety of responsible investment practices and matters relating to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).
Lila Aspin	USC Peace Garden and Events Intern	Lila supports engagement initiatives and efforts to transform an unused space into a garden to be used for education, research and programs serving the community.
Lillian Wei	Facilities Dashboard Intern	Lillian supports FPM by updating and maintaining energy usage dashboards.
Mia Fong	Embodied Carbon Intern	Mia works on modeling the embodied carbon of the existing physical campuses.
Mikayla Hisamoto	USC Peace Garden and Events Intern	Mikayla supports efforts to transform an unused space into a garden to be used for education, research and programs serving the community.
Olivia Heffernan	Senior USC Peace Garden and Events Intern	Olivia supports efforts to transform an unused space into a garden to be used for education, research and programs serving the community.
Sage Wheeler	Student Sustainability Communications Council Intern	Sage works with student groups and campus partners to create the tools and processes necessary for effective communication of sustainability updates and opportunities.
Soulenne Githumbi	Sustainability Hub Programming and Events Intern	Soulenne helps run the Sustainability Hub by greeting guests and educating them about sustainability at USC, as well as supporting events and programming happening in the Hub.
Xinyi Zhang	Assignment: Earth Data Analyst	Xinyi collects and visualizes data related to our Assignment Earth Goals and creates content in our Asgmt: Earth Dashboard in PowerBI.
