USC Energy Institute

The USC Energy Institute (USCEI) was launched in 2008 to create a university-based framework to support and expand opportunities in energy-related research, education, and public policy development.  The Institute is a research center that solves issues related to short and long-range fuel and energy. The institute discusses topics regarding economic, environmental, and policy changes, focuses on ways to make carbon-based fuels more efficient, and works towards promoting renewable energy. 

Energy Institute initiatives include:

  • Developing new renewable energy technology
  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Improving the efficiency of conventional fuels
  • Understanding consumer behavior
  • Evaluating the impacts of climate change
  • Studying environmental impacts
  • Designing the Smart-Grid
  • Solving energy water problems
